Liverpool are reportedly turning to Italian U-21 captain Giorgio Chiellini after failing to capture Gabriel Heinze.

Tuttosport claims that Liverpool have made a £5m bid for Juve's left-sided defender - who has been capped six times by the Italian senior squad.

Chiellini was recently named in the UEFA Team of the tournament for the European Under-21 championships but is thought to be available for around £7m.
