Fulham midfielder Michael Brown has been charged with violent conduct after headbutting Liverpool's Xabi Alonso.

Brown clashed with Alonso in the first-half of Fulham's 1-0 win on Saturday, leaving the Spaniard with a bloody nose.

Brown has until 1800 GMT on Wednesday to answer the charge and his case will be heard by the FA's disciplinary commission on Thursday.

The charge carries an automatic three-match ban.
