Steven Gerrard has announced that he will revert to his preferred position of central midfield following Mohamed Sissoko's shoulder injury.

Sissoko has been ruled out until February and, following talks with manager Rafa Benitez, Gerrard is set to take his place in the middle of midfield having spent most of the season on either the right or left flank.
