Steve McClaren insists the world of football will be sitting up to take notice of Peter Crouch's England goal exploits.

Crouch's match-winner in Macedonia means he has smashed in 11 goals in 14 appearances for his country.

It is a ratio to stand comparison with top international hitmen - including Wayne Rooney.

England boss McClaren said: 'Those stats will not have gone unnoticed around the world.

'They knew it before and they know it even more now.

'He's become a big, big player for us since his emergence and since he's come into the team.

'He's a good impact player and he's proving that he can start a game and contribute as well.'
