Liverpool sealing Pennant deal

Birmingham's Jermaine Pennant is having a medical at Liverpool and is expected to complete a move today.

Blues revealed on Tuesday that they turned down an esarlier offer for the 23-year-old but a fee for the winger has now been agreed at a significantly higher price.

The former England Under-21 international is expected to join his new team-mates in Switzerland once the deal is finalised.

And after Rafa Benitez ends his year-long search for an elusive right winger, he'll turn his attentions to completing his major transfer business of the summer with a move for Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt. However, he still needs to cut several more players from his squad to generate additional cash for a realistic bid for Kuyt, who's valued around £10m by his Dutch club.
