In a statement on their website, Bolton said: 'Although Didi Hamann signed a contract with the club, he has since had a change of heart.'

Manchester City have been linked with the player, and Bolton added: 'He will sign for another club within 24 hours.'

Didi's exit from Anfield is likely related to his slipping down the pecking order because of competition from Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso and Momo Sissoko.
