Beckham score boosts UK economy
Analysts claim that David Beckham's winning goal against Ecuador will boost the British economy by up to £124million over the next week.
With the 1-0 victory booking a quarter-final date next Saturday, retailers are set to enjoy a week-long windfall from the World Cup feel-good factor.
'According to analysts, such as the Centre for Economic and Business Research, at least an extra £100m will be spent in the UK in the six days before the quarter-finals on Saturday, when England will play Portugal,' reports The Independent.
